The area was developed as a railroad town and is named after Robert Terrell, one of the original settlers who had a farm on the western side. He built an octagonal house on his property, called a “Round House”, to provide better defense against attacks by Native Americans who occupied the area for thousands of years.
The home was later fitted with the first glass windows in the county. The Round House is preserved on what is now the Terrell Military College. Another interesting piece of history is that during World War II, the No. 1 British Flying Training School was located in Terrell. It was the first of six civilian flight schools in the United States dedicated to instructing British Royal Air Force pilots during that war. The project we show next was completed just north of Terrell. We provided a custom designed dog house for a 100lbs Rottweiler. It uses a modular construction with vented louvers & ventilation for maximum coolness in the Texas heat.
